Since its
founding in early 2004, Sci Fi Geeks members have come from all
walks of Second Life. Many of us are content
creators, some of us are explorers or simple observers, some of us
enjoy discussion, but all of us are fans who share a common love
of science fiction, and a desire to see it thrive in
Second Life.
Upon its
inception, Sci Fi Geeks became one of the fastest growing groups
in Second Life, increasing in membership from just two to well over
a hundred in a matter of weeks. With as many members as we currently
have (108 at last count and still growing), it seems that science
fiction fans
are everywhere in Second Life. As a result Sci Fi Geeks has consitently
been exciting, interesting,
and lots of fun.
Sci Fi
Geeks exists to provide science fiction fans a sense of community
within
Second Life. From time to time we hold trivia events, show
movies in our theater in Indigo, host contests, support fan art within
Second Life, etc. Members often get together to plan events,
collaborate
on projects, or simply to discuss their favorite movies,
shows, books, or games. In short, we love science fiction, and we
do whatever we can to further
its
development
in Second
Life.
Sci Fi
Geeks live all over Second Life, but at any given there are almost
always
some of us at our headquarters in Indigo. All are welcome
to visit any time. Whether you're coming to attend an event, to
check out the latest exhibits in
the
museum, to watch
a movie, or just
simply to say hello, don't hesitate to stop by. You
can't miss the place. Just head to Indigo and look for the giant
starships hovering overhead.
How
does
one join Sci Fi Geeks?
It's easy.
The only requisites are that you are a fan, and that you are a nice
person. IM Chosen Few, NeuralClone Zaius, or FlipperPA Perrigrine
for an invite.
How
did all this get started?
Sci
Fi Geeks was founded by NeuralClone Zaius and Chosen Few. Ironically
enough, Chosen & Neural met in Second Life, only to discover
that they live in the same area in first life. The two became fast
friends in both lives, and soon began to work on projects together,
one of the first of which was the founding and development of Sci
Fi Geeks.
