Well
here it is, the long awaited pre-launch of the Sci Fi Geeks website.
I say pre-launch because there are still a few sections under construction.
It's been a long wait, but we're finally up and running, and we've
got some great content.
Some of
you may notice that the site is now showing some different features
than what
was on the original homepage. Originally we had hoped we would be
able to include discussion forums, hosting for group member artwork
and original movies, and an IMDB style database of sci fi movies,
shows,
books,
& games. We'd still love to impliment these things, but unfortunately
all that is just way too much to handle without a staff. Hopefully
down the road we can expand, but for now the decision has been made
for
the site to focus solely on sci fi as it exists in Second Life.
The links
above are pretty self explanatory. We've got information about the
Sci Fi Geeks group,
a collection of pages dedicated to the museum, a section for Sci
Fi Supplies product details (complete with the highly asked about
to-do
list),
and pages for SL tutorials. The latter two are still under construction,
as are certain other pages throughout the site, but I think everyone
will be pleasantly suprised when you see what's going
to be available.
This page
will be your source for general informaton about what's happening
with the site, so look here first to know
if and when any other part of the site has been updated. The tentative
plan
for
now
is
to have
the missing museum and product pages completed and online over the
next few days, and if there's time, a tutorial or two. Expect additional
totrials
to trickle in on a semi-regular basis from that point on. (I know
there are tons of SL tutorial sites already out there, but rest assured
what
you
find
here will be a bit different than what you may
have seen before. Starship building anyone? Hint hint.)
That's the
news for now. See you in world. Live long and prosper, thanks for
all the fish, etc, etc, etc.
